Portland Sea Dogs 2025 Deaf Awareness Night Jersey

The Portland Sea Dogs, in partnership with the Pine Tree Society and the Maine Association of the Deaf, hosted their second annual Deaf and Hard of Hearing Awareness Night. The special event, presented by Yarmouth Audiology and held at Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field, aimed to raise awareness and provide inclusion for the deaf community. Jersey Design and Meaning

The highlight of the night was the specially designed battle jerseys that the Sea Dogs players wore. Instead of the traditional “Sea Dogs” script, the jersey featured the word “Sea Dogs” in American Sign Language (ASL) on the front. The design was not only a powerful symbol of support for the deaf community, but also an educational tool, encouraging other fans to learn about ASL. The turquoise color of the jersey, combined with gray and white on the collar and sleeves, creates a striking and modern look.

Inclusive Fan Experience

To ensure the best experience for all fans, especially members of the minority community, sign language interpreters were present at multiple points throughout the game, including the third base dugout and customer service. This made it easy for fans to communicate, ask questions, and enjoy the game to the fullest. Interpreter-service tickets were also available in sections 211 and 212, making it easier for those who need special assistance.
